fabrication using rubber casts? [27 Oct 2010|10:01am]

sky_mapping
Does anyone have any experience with making rubber casts? I am trying to find an inexpensive product to use to fabricate a lot of small statues that I have collected and wish to use in my artwork.

If anyone has any advice or ideas, websites or forums to point me to that would be wonderful!

Thanks!

The Naturalist's Box [26 Jun 2009|08:04pm]

It'd been a while since I made one of these playable shadow boxes. I first had the idea for this one over a year ago, but what with one distraction and another, it took me ages to pull it all together. I finally finished it a little over a week ago.

It was inspired by Master and Commander.

victorian asians assemblage art

This piece didn't take much effort, but I loved the Victorian photo of the Asian women. I'd never seen one like it before and wanted to display it.

I found the photo in a rubber stamp magazine years ago and lost the magazine.
If anyone knows the origin of the photo I'd love to know about it.

A Little Taste of Posion Shadowbox Series [15 Nov 2007|06:05pm]

the_dean
silverflight and I are doing art projects to sell at Sacramento's VOX Cafe Seasonal Shindig and Bazaar supporting Habitat for Humanity.

We are very different artists and she is doing some very cool stuff. I, on the other hand, seem to always have a edge to my stuff and decided to do the "A Little Taste of Posion Shadowbox" series because nothing says "holiday season" like poison. I'll be making a few more as well.

The question is, how to price them. They say to price them to sell, that way Habitat for Humanity will make as much money as they can. They are all wood shadowboxes, hand painted with paints and ink wash. Collage and mixed media including glass bottles with elements inside. Suggestions?

My BA Embroidery Final Project!! [20 Feb 2007|11:59pm]

daniellelou

I am asking for your help with my final project on my degree. It’s all about forming visual representations of collections and taking this through to design ideas after lots of drawing and investigating objects. I am trying to form an exciting and diverse collection by asking people from all over the world to send me objects in the post!

The object(s) need to be:

·        small, no bigger than 10cm square.

·        old or used or with an exciting history

·        inexpensive – I unfortunately can’t send you money in return!

Please send your objects to:       Danielle Goodhand

                                                School of Art and Design

                                                Manchester Metropolitan University

                                                Cavendish Building

                                                Cavendish Street

                                                Manchester

                                                M15 6BG

Please remember to include your name, address and telephone number so I can send you something in return for helping me with forming my collection.

The project will be exhibited in the Embroidery degree show around June 2007, I will post the exact date as soon as I know!

The deadline is the end of May 2007 but the sooner the better really!!

Thanks so much for your help!!!!!!

[ mood | excited ]

Hey everyone!

I recently hosted a material swap through the artist_cards community (see the picture below) and it was such a success that I have started a new livejournal community to help facilitate future swaps with interested artists. Please come check it out.

material_swap material_swap

A brand new livejournal community that helps artists to trade materials that they have on hand, but have no real use for, with other artists.

Any artist who wants to swap materials is welcome to join. : )

We are currently taking sign-ups for the July/August swap.
